Installing Ink Cartridges
Step 1.Power on the printer.
Step 2.Open the paper output tray.
Step 3.Open the paper input tray.
Step 4.Load paper into feeder tray.
Step 5.Push the paper guide until it is flush with the edge of the paper.
Step 6.Pull open the cartridge access cover.
The Carriage moves to the centre of the printer.
Step 7.Cut open the fresh cartridge.
Step 8.Pull the protective plastic tab off the printer nozzle and remove it.
Take care not to touch the nozzle or electrical contacts.
First ensure that you are using the correct cartridge. Tricolor goes on the left, and black on the right.
Step 9.Slide in the cartridge into the carriage slot. Press gently, until the cartridge snaps in with a click.
Step 10.Shut the cartridge access cover door.
Step 11.Wait at least 30 seconds for the printer to adjust and re-initialize.
The printer will print out an alignment page. This page should be scanned by the printer for best alignment of its head.
Step 12.Lift the scanner lid and place the printed page with its edges flush against the bottom right hand border of the scanner bed.
Step 13.Flip down the scanner lid.
Step 14.Press the Color copy button on the printer panel.
The printer scans the page and aligns the printer head.
Once the power button light stops blinking, the alignment is complete and the printer is ready for operations.

Scanned documents can be stored in pdf or tiff format. In this demo we scan to a pdf.
Ensure that the printer is turned on and connected to the computer.
Step 1.Open the scanner cover.
Step 2.Place the document to be scanned face down on the scanner bed, its edges touching the bottom right hand border of the scanning bed.
Step 3.Flip down the scanner lid.
Step 4.Click Start Button > Devices and Printers.
Double click the HP Deskjet 2050 J510 series Icon.
Step 5.In the Panel that opens, click 'Scan a Document or Photo'.
The left hand area of the panel provides convenient presets.
Step 6.Choose 'Document to file'. This will by default, save a pdf file.
Step 7.In the right hand side panel, choose a resolution. We choose 200 dpi from the drop-down options.
Step 8.Click 'advanced Settings'.
Step 9.Choose a medium quality by dragging the slider to the middle.
Step 10.Click OK.
Ensure that the 'Show preview scan' option is checked.
Step 11.Click scan.
Step 12.Once the preview appears, drag the borders to resize the scan area.
Step 13.Use the brightness slider to adjust the brightness. We increase it Slightly.
Step 14.Use the contrast slider to adjust the contrast.
Step 15.Once the preview looks right, click 'Save'.
Step 16.Name the file and choose a location to save to. We save it in the default location.
Step 17.Click 'Save' to save.
